Drafting a fanny pack pattern is more like sculpture because it’s all about curves which will later mold around more curves — and even after three years of working with my version, I still think of ways I could improve it. For the front panel, I used a thick American bison leather hide where the natural grain runs very deep. To me, the texture feels bold but still primitive. (It also reminds me of a raisin.) This particular hide also had some deep scratches, which I placed right down the middle. For the top, I used a piece of the very first example of a perfect red leather hide that I have ever found. You can tell this fanny pack is one of the first of its kind because it has my original hand-burned label on the front. Maybe more on my label journey later. And also, more on the pieces in the rest of my collection and why I’ve chosen them.
