I took the long way into Manhattan last week to drop off some leather in the Garment District. I’m in the process of recreating my Scout Backpack design with a family-operated artisan team there (est. 1982). I've been creating and testing this original design for a few years, but my collaboration with this family began remotely nearly a year ago. This move to NYC is huge for me because I'm now just a train ride's distance away from this family's operation, making it much easier for me to produce consistent, accessibly collections and nurture myself as a designer.
Below is my 2025 version of the Scout. This is what we’re shooting for, with a few slight changes in the final for functionality.
Many of you have been waiting patiently for this backpack collaboration to come to fruition. We’re on our way and I’ll keep you updated. ✨
